New York Fashion Week 2022

Though Orlando’s been keeping me very busy these days, I just couldn’t miss one of the most celebrated weeks in the Tri-State area—New York Fashion Week. Designers, models and fashion lovers alike quickly congregated to the Big Apple to explore the creative designs the fashion industry had to offer this season. Once my NYFW invites began to roll in, I quickly booked a trip to the concrete jungle and checked into the HGU Hotel located off 32nd st.

Now, if you’ve followed my outlet, you would know how much I’m enamored by old architecture, and the HGU hotel definitely captures the deep, rich history behind New York City’s infrastructures.

This year, I spent my time in New York covering Perry Ellis’s newest menswear collection. As I hastily hopped into my Uber and made my way to The Shows showcase, I couldn’t help but embrace the scenic view from the backseat. Though I love watching the runway shows and attending the opulent showcases, one of my favorite, lasting memories of my experiences at NYFW each year are actually the car rides to it. There’s just something about gazing into the New York City skyline as I make my way to each show that leaves a lasting impression on me…*sigh*

This year, Perry Ellis’s newest menswear collection stayed on-par with the brand’s casual aesthetic.

Variations of red, white and blue tones were present as I surveyed each of the models’ outfits. The fall collection was comprised of sweaters, jackets, hoodies, scarves and one of my favorite pieces, the signature Perry Ellis American cap—because who doesn’t love a good’ol cap.

Another one of my favorite collections presented during NYFW this season was Tedddy Vonranson’s colorful display of fabric mastery. Teddy Vonranson’s collection, called “North Beach”, introduced a dissimilarity of color blocking jackets, monochromatic trenches, platform shoes and camouflaged-patterned outwear. It was an eye-catching ensemble of fashion-forward garment construction.

Welp, I hope you all enjoyed the new looks from this season. Until next time—or should I say, next season? Either way, Happy New York Fashion Week you fashion lovers! – David Plowden, David’s Manor.
